When I joined USAID’s Bureau for the Middle East, I was asked to create a new sign for the Front Office suite. The only directive was to incorporate a Middle Eastern aesthetic inspired in particular by Moroccan tilework. After I completed the sketches, the other offices in the Bureau asked me to create signs for them based on the sketches. I created everything for the signs from scratch, including the Arabic inspired typography based on Gil Sans (the USAID brand font). Each team chose the design they wanted from the three sketches I created for the Front Office.
The signs were printed on foam core and displayed throughout the Bureau for the Middle East offices. Here are photos I got on my last day at USAID (including a selfie with the office for the office for Strategic Planning and Operations, which housed my team). I unfortunately missed the sign for the Middle East Affairs office.
